Devlog #4: Plans for v0.3


Now that the dust has settled on v0.2, I'm now focusing my attention on v0.3 of Stuck in Sutton. Some of what I've planned has already made it into v0.2 Definitive Edition, but v0.3 will expand upon all of this and more.

First is reworking Drunkenness. For now, getting too drunk leads you to being forced to take a rest in your hotel room. This isn't all that interesting so in v0.3, I plan on revamping drunkenness to have randomized outcomes. This will be somewhat dependent on location, so getting drunk at the Pink Lounge will have different results from getting drunk at McCall's Bar.

Another thing I'm planning on adding is more random encounters. A few can currently be found at the truck stop, but I'm hoping to add more encounters in other places. I don't want to give away too much about what I have planned.

As for expanding story elements, there are two things I want to focus on. One is adding in a character who was cut from v0.2. That is Russ the Mechanic. Whilst he does make an appearance during the intro, v0.3 will add him as a permanent part of the cast.

I'll also be adding in End of Day 2 content which will include encounters with various NPCs. This is going to be the start of some branching paths, depending on certain interactions you've had as a player.

If I'm being honest, v0.3 might seem smaller than v0.2, but it'll add a lot of flavor to the game and set the stage for me to add other random encounters. I'm targeting to release v0.3 at the end of April, but that depends on how things go. As I've noted before, v0.2 was released with a pretty major bug and I don't want that to happen again.

Throughout April, I'll be posting more updates about what is going into v0.3. Until then, I'm afraid I'll have to leave you Stuck in Sutton.
